Welcome back! I know its been a really really long time since I posted here. Well, my work started back up here, I'll miss you Summer vacation, and I've been testing Warhammer religiously and there's only one class left that I haven't played in beta, the Shadow Warrior. I'm not quite sure why I haven't played one yet, It just hasn't appealed to me. I guess the look of the class, which reminds me a lot of the classic "rogue" look, just seems played to me. The Witch Elf and Witch Hunter, which mirror each other almost exactly, are one of my favorite classes to play in RvR. As for the PvE game, the Archmage and Shaman take the cake, but then again I've always been a healer. Honestly there isn't one class that I can name that I don't like playing.
On the guild front, Those Jerks from Pod 6 have landed on Isle of the Dead and assuming the server stays core into live this is where we will stay. Hopefully I can find free time to setup up a site and forums for the guild. As for my Order playtime, I'll spend that over on Barak Varr as most of the people I have met in Beta want to go there.
Well sadly due to illness, that all I have in me for now. But closing out this last week of beta and into head start I'll discuss more about the classes, economy, and the love of the waaargh!!

Friday Night.
This last Friday went by like any other. I officiated a good game of D&D and came home to play some DDO and have tea. I opened my mailbox and saw the most glorious news I could have imagined, I was invited to WAR Beta. Well, that's all I am going to say on the subject of Friday night. Also this limits the amount of speculation I can do about the game, but I can still voice my opinions about recent news that is let to the public by Mythic.
On the topic of news let to the public, I know I never really remarked on Mr. Jacobs letter and I don't plan to. I understood long ago that anything done during beta was for the best of the game. Beyond that its still beta and no one knows where this game will land.

The Herald Arrives With News
Yesterday saw a new post on the Warhammer Herald officially announcing the start of Guild Beta (Beta 3). Even on the heels of "the big news," Life at Mythic goes on and a new phase of beta rolls out onto the floor. I imagine testers in this phase will have much to think about with the loss of some classes they have been used to seeing all along, and fewer places to go and siege. Also the post mentions this being the last phase of beta before Open Beta. For the rest of us we'll have to wait for this phase of beta to be over so we can get in there and get some.

A Not So Fairy Tale Ending
So the news hit today, and with bated breath many a WAR fan learned that there would be four less capitol cities and four less classes available on launch for WAR. I guess its not the worse thing that could happen in the WAR news realm, the worst being another delay on release. So, as it stands we can say later, as in will be put in the game via patches, to the Choppa, Hammerer, Blackguard, and Knight of the Blazing Sun. Also we can put the Greenskin/Dwarf and Elf/Elf campaign on hold at the end game for now. I'd like to say that the temporary loss of capitol cities won't effect players, but you know there are those who will be at that point in the story line well before the patch is available
A lot of people are going to be hurt and lost with their favorite classes now in limbo, and I feel for them I really do. All I can offer to the WAR community is a heart felt, "things have a way of fixing themselves in the long run."

New News on the Way
In a recent article on mmorpg.com Mark Jacobs from Mythic Entertainment talked about the very recent renaming of EA Mythic back to Mythic Entertainment. Mr Jacobs assures us that they are the same company, just back to their old name. The intresting thing about the article is the mention of, three big announcements for tomorrow.
We can be pretty sure, at least according to the chatter in the mmorpg.com's forums, that this isn't a notice of open beta. Ideas about what could be coming are across the board. Syp over at Waaagh! thinks that one of the announcements will concern the collector's edition of WAR. He has some decent information pointing to the collector's edition being sold out in the US. While this is one big possibility and would be an enourmous announcement, we still have two annoucenments to divinate.
I think that the possibility of the Warhammer acount page being put up very soon is close on the top of the list for things to be getting done and announced. Having this done would only serve to show that Warhammer is well on its way to being ready, and possibly help quell a lot of the neigh sayers who think WAR will just be pushed back again.
The only truth we have is that tomorrow we will know exactly what the announcements are and how they effect Warhammer. Till then...

An Ork by Any Other Name...
With WAR's recent announcement of guild beta I've had a lot to think about, including what the hell I am going to call my guild. A few local and not so local friends of mine are banding together to create a WAR guild as we only need six people to start up. All the basics were relatively easy, I started pricing a guild package for a ventrilo server and guild website, I recruited the remainder of people we had to fill out the guild, made sure we had the proper roles filled in, etc... The one and only thing that eludes us at this point is a name. So, I thought I would dedicate this post to what makes a guild name great.
There are some guild names out there that we will never forget, Death and Taxes, Nihilum, Mongbat, And Two Stealth Rogues, and the list goes on. Some are memorable because of their accomplishments, others are famous for the way they made you chuckle in that last battleground. How do you choose tho, do you start with something epic sounding just so when you do get to do great deeds you know your guild name will echo across the land like the hum of a blade through a stunties throat, or do you go for the laugh factor? Recently one of my guildies, Matt "the Hobbit," suggested that we go with Those Jerks from Pod Six, A reference to the great Sealab 2021. While it is a hillarious name, It doesn't play too well with the IP of Warhammer Online. Suggestions from our guildies have been few and far between, which only goes to show the degree of dificulty in trying to name a guild. I'm sure by launch we will have a much better idea of what our identity will be, as all of us have collector's editions of WAR on order and should have a seat in open beta.
My question to the community, and not just the WAR community but all you MMO players out there, is simple. What should we call our guild?

Warhammer getting close
Whenever you see a game has partnered up with Ideazon to produce a new keyset for the ZBoard, you know said game is close to release. Such is the case with Warhammer as a new post on the Herald shows. The two are hosting a contest to pick the design of the new Warhammer Fragmat. Head over to the Herald article to cast your vote before July 16th when the contest will be over.
